5 Insider Tips for the Perfect Beach Day

Spring is here and many of us will be heading to our favorite beach destinations. The Emerald Coast beaches have a lot to offer - the sun, sea and sand, warm summer breezes and sandcastles... And while it's great to relax, there are some things you should consider before you go. Here are 5 insider tips that will help you not only enjoy yourself on a perfect beach day, but also make sure you spend as little time as possible getting everything you need ready!

Invest in a Great Beach Bag

A great beach bag, either waterproof or mesh, with lots of compartments can really make the difference. Stash any plastic shovels, buckets, toys, and more in a laundry-style mesh bag. Just give it a few shakes at the end of the day, and the sand will fall out. You’ll thank us later!

Find Some Shade and Don't Skip the Sunscreen

If there’s no shade, it’s worth getting a beach umbrella or even a beach pop-up tent. Most beach tents have a mesh window, allowing you to enjoy the breeze while getting a much-needed break from the sun. Whether you’re a Florida native or not, there’s nothing like a bad sunburn to ruin the next few days of a vacation. When shopping for sunscreen, try to find a broad spectrum, UVA/UVB protection that’s water-resistant. Your skin will thank you later!

Pack a Cooler Like a Pro

A hard-shell cooler works best, any cooler will do. Freeze any water bottles, fruit, or juice boxes overnight and let them cool the rest of your food and thaw in the sun. You could also fill sandwich bags with water and freeze them overnight, creating inexpensive DIY ice packs! Throw all your drinks, fruits, and veggies on top, then add a layer of a towel or paper towels before adding your sandwiches. This will ensure no moisture gets through.

Bring Baby Powder

This may seem like a strange one, but long-time beachgoers all agree this best beach hack yet! There’s nothing worse than being wet and not being able to get the sand off your hands so you can take a bite of your sandwich. Just rub some baby powder on your hands, it takes the moisture off your skin and hair, making it easier for sand to fall off.
